BEHIND THE SCENES - HARRODS X MULBERRY’S HOLIDAY WINDOW
This year, British brand MULBERRY is behind the festive windows for iconic department store, HARRODS.
The five winter woodland themed tableaus were designed by set designer, Shona Heath. Heath conceived her Mulberry fantasy based off of the inspiration of the Worcestershire countryside where she grew up. The windows feature snow-covered foxes, owls, bunnies, and deer among the label’s signature bags in an array of seasonal and classic colors including bright red, bluebell, off-white, and oak. To complete the Harrod’s experience, Mulberry will be hosting a series of storytelling sessions through the holidays, with guest speakers reading their favorite fairy tales. Also, a calligrapher will be on hand to personalize every purchase with a hand-written gift tag.
Heath revealed to the Telegraph that it was much more difficult creating the windows than the sets for the brand’s ad campaigns: “There’s the layer of magic that photography adds to my work. It’s actually a lot harder to create a 360 degree fantasy - you’re much more laid bare.”
“In the middle of the wood, near the frozen lake, stands the magical Mulberry tree. It bears mystically golden acorns, and every animal it touches turns to gold.”
